Raw Sugar

Many believe that raw sugar and brown sugar is the same thing. However, there is a significant difference between the two. While raw sugar is completely unrefined, brown sugar is refined white sugar added to molasses.

This distinction is important because raw sugar is good for health. Raw sugar contains organic substances like glucose that the body absorbs easily to get energy. Raw sugar is also believed to improve circulation, increase blood cell production and enhance digestion.

Sugar is traditionally made by extracting sugarcane juice and boiling it for at least five hours to allow the water to evaporate. The thick juice gets darker as it boils. On cooling, it forms a solid block of raw sugar.

  • When raw sugar is used in sugar drinks instead of refined sugar, it offers many health benefits, especially to women. • Raw sugar is used in cold remedies. Add ginger slices and raw sugar to boiled water; drink this to reduce cold symptoms significantly. The mixture is also excellent for relieving constipation.
  • Raw sugar provides many natural cosmetic benefits and is used in some of the best makeup products. Many skin products use raw sugar because it increases cell regeneration, especially in the dermis.
  • Raw sugar reduces swelling resulting from stings.
  • It hydrates the body when added to bathwater.
  • Raw sugar also reduces skin pigmentation by forcing melanin out of skin cells through the lymphatic system, and then out of the body.
  • Raw sugar is considered an antioxidant due to its ability to protect cells from damage caused by oxygen and free radicals.
